Music Brings Us Together- The Rochester Symphony Orchestra

The Rochester Symphony Orchestra opens the 2023-2024 Season with the “Music in the Park Concert” directed by Conductor and Music Director Maestro Zeljko Milicevic.

Everyone enjoys a concert in the park, so this July 27th at 7:30 p.m., join the Rochester Symphony Orchestra (RSO) in Rochester Municipal Park for an evening of captivating music under the stars. Bring your lawn chairs, your snacks and sodas and enjoy the (Kiwanis Club’s Concert in the Parks 2023 Program’s) final concert for the summer, presented by the RSO. Admission is free.

The program begins with the National Anthem featuring soprano Kristy Barnes, and as always, we will celebrate our Armed Forces with a special tribute. The RSO’s tribute includes the “Armed Forces Salute” Arr. Bob Lowden, the “National Emblem March” by E.E. Bagley, which is truly one of the all-time greatest marches, and an enduring classic and instrumental fun piece, the “Bugler’s Holiday” by Leroy Anderson.

Maestro Milicevic will also conduct such favorites as “Overture to William Tell” by Gioachino Rossini, the hauntingly beautiful “Peer. Gynt Suite No. 1” by Edvard Grieg, and “An American in Paris” by George Gershwin.

Enjoy special selections from “Mama Mia” by ABBA, and “Satchmo! A Tribute to Louis Armstrong” Arr. Ted Ricketts with selections; “Hello Dolly, St. Louis Blues, What a Wonderful World and When the Saints Go Marching In.”

A big fan favorite, “Raiders of the Lost Ark” by John Williams, will conclude the evening’s entertainment.
